Evaluation post 4 (How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?)

Media technology hardware used to create this text our music would include a digital camcorder which was used to capture footage so that the video could be constructed, we had also used a digital camera in order to capture still images which could be used for the ancillary texts and also the music video.
In terms of software we had chosen to used adobe Photoshop cs4 for our ancillary task, we have had previous experience with this software before and felt confident in creating a the ancillary texts which best depict the message/lyrics of are chosen unsigned artist.
For are music we had chosen to use adobe premier pro c4/5.5 over final cut pro due to it being more accessible to my group, I have also had previous experience in using this program which made it a more logical choice, this program had allowed us to construct the music video making it very useful. We ha d also used a program called VLC which is a video player , this had enabled us to present are work.
Microsoft word, power point and excel were all used for me conduct my research and planning effectively .
Other media technologies which have also been used during the duration of this media project include Blogger which was used to log and present all work which had been completed, this was also used to keep track of what task had been completed and what need to be done, through this site I was also able to receive feedback on work I had posted allowing for improvement to be made.
Slideshare is another media technology which was used in conjunction with blogger to present my work, this had allowed me embed power points into my blog which was very use full for showing my work in a different format. SoundClound…….
YouTube was used to present my music video and video vox pops in conjunction with blogger through embedding.

Evaluation post 3 (What have you learned from your audience feedback?)

According to my feedback i have learnt that the video does appeal to the right target audience, the theme of the shoot glasses is highly appealing in all the different media products which is mentioned by the audience, the colour scheme on the other hand is not appreciated by the audience as it does not link with the rock genre theme, the lack of instrument is also highly apparent to the audience, they felt that if this was included the music video would have a better feel.

Evaluation post 2 (How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?)

The main product with the ancillary text are linked by colour scheme, they all have the same distinguished orange colour which would also stand out from other existing media product in the same rock genre and which is also easily identifiable by the audience. They all contain the similar texts depicting the identity of the artist/band. By just looking at the ancillary text are also linked by the fact that share images of the shot glass which also makes appearances in the music video, the audience can easily identify with the item which would suggest the theme of alcohol linking in with the theme of the music video.
The ancillary text subverts away from the genre with colours chosen making it unique to the audience. From purely the ancillary text a the band/artist are represented as lovers of alcohol(alcoholics) which may be viewed negatively by some audiences but will also appeal heavily to others. This certainly does fit in with  the genre as excessive alcohol is and aspect of the rock genre/culture depicted by the media.
The type of typography we have chosen to go for is bold which suggest the loud nature of the band and there lyrics, it also links in with the album name Bold and Brave which also link in with this the typography chosen.  The main image represent what the band is mainly about, drinking away the troubles and enjoying life.

Evaluation post 1 (In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?)

The genre of are music video was a rock so we had tried to the relate to the already existing conventions and generic codes of a rock video.
In terms of Mise en scene we had chosen to go against the typical outfits for a rock genre artist our characters outfits followed more of an urban theme, the outfits can be seen on any types of music video and is usually worn by everyday youth.  The location, typical rock bands are seen to be on stage, our music video on the other hand show the artists in normal everyday environments which goes against what which is expected of a rock music video, the locations being at work, home and on a road.  There are also no musical instruments on sight which also goes against convention. Overall going against the expected rock and roll life style.
Compared with the rock/metal band Asking Alexandria’s music video to the stage which adheres to the typical themes of drinking alcohol, drug take and taking part in amours activity's. Although are music video does use a similar theme being that alcohol is also present in our video. In are video we had adhered to typical conventions used in typical music videos as we had included a wide variety of shots although are video also subvert away from the typical norm as our video incorporates first person perspective shot, in this way develop existing conventions of real media products by including more ways of show the main artist in music videos.
Editing done in are video appears at a slow paste compared to others official music videos challenging established media conventions. Our music video also subverts away from what is epecte4d of a music video with the use of dissolves, typical video use mainly normal cuts, our video also adhered to this.
Are video also challenges established convention as  some shot within our video lasted more than 1 second compared to the constant cutting of an industry standard video which in my opinion helps the audience understand the story easier, lastly are  music video has a narrative based format like other in the same genre, using existing conventions.

Recently we were able to finally finish the music video, the was a very challenge task as me and my group were adversely effected by the problems with computer at school again pushing us pass the allotted time given, we also had problem with the software at school meaning that i had to bring my laptop as an alternative to ensure the video would be completed. Lastly the ancillary task have also been completed to match the theme of the video and i will be now be working on my evaluation.

Production Log - Entry 9 - Concept shots

These are concept shots of our project so far, we have started creating the opening sequence of our music video and these are the images which have been used. This was done on the program adobe premier pro cs 4, I found this task enjoyable as it gave us an opportunity to experiment with the opening sequence allowing us to have an idea of what the finish product would look like.

Production Log - Entry 8

Today I have spent time creating different designs for my music album CD  I had allot of problems with the sizing, as the designs tend to not scale to the right size of the actual template. This was done on the program Adobe Photoshop.
